City closings for Independence Day

Most city government offices and facilities will be closed July 5 for Independence Day. Those closures include:

• City Hall at St. James

• Edward Ball Building

• Jake M. Godbold City Hall Annex.

• Office of the Tax Collector, Yates Building

• All Tax Collector branch offices

• Office of the Property Appraiser

• Duval County Courthouse

• Supervisor of Elections main office

• Supervisor of Elections branch office

• Planning and Development Department administrative offices

• Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS)

• ACPS Mandarin Adoption Center

• ACPS Animal Code Enforcement Office

• Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department administrative offices

• Recreation and Community Services Department offices

• All community and senior centers and gymnasiums managed by the Recreation and Community Services Department

• Tillie K. Fowler Regional Park Nature Center, 7000 Roosevelt Blvd.

• Victim Services Center,

• Jacksonville Children’s Commission

• Behavioral and Human Services Division Emergency Assistance office

• Right-of-Way and Grounds Maintenance administrative offices

• The Ritz Theatre & LaVilla Museum

• Public Buildings Division administrative offices

• Solid Waste Division administrative offices

• Household Hazardous Waste Facility

Jacksonville Public Library

The Jacksonville Public Library (Main Library and branches) will be closed on Sunday and Monday.

The Ritz Theatre & LaVilla Museum

The Ritz Theatre & LaVilla Museum, 829 N. Davis St., will be closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Garbage, yard waste and recycling collection

Residential garbage, yard waste and recycling will be collected as usual Monday. The Trail Ridge Landfill, at 5110 U.S. Highway 301, will maintain normal operating hours. The Household Hazardous Waste Facility, at 2675 Commonwealth Ave., will be closed Monday.

Huguenot Memorial Park

Huguenot Memorial Park will maintain regular hours Friday and Saturday. Day-use visitors may enter 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m. All but permitted campers and their authorized visitors must depart by 8 p.m. Visitors of campers should pre-register with the office and acquire a visitor pass to stay in the park until 10 p.m. Camping reservations can be made by phone 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

The park will stay open late for the Mayport fireworks display Saturday. On that day, entry to the park will be permitted until 9 p.m. The park will close following the fireworks and only permitted campers may remain in the park. The rate for entry will remain the same as the regular after-10 a.m. rate of $3 per car of up to six people with an additional charge of $1 per person above six.

Huguenot Memorial Park managers may implement a limit-

ed beach parking plan this

weekend in preparation for high tides that could cause beach and/or park closures if maximum vehicle capacity is reached. Visitors may check conditions by calling 251-3335 or visiting www.jaxparks.com. Managers have also implemented a beach closure area for wildlife protection measures for nesting birds. The area closure is temporary and may change as required. Personal watercraft users should call ahead to ensure the north point is open for vehicle access.

Pets are no longer allowed in Huguenot Memorial Park by day users as of May 1. The park’s campgrounds still remain pet friendly, but owners must adhere to the current ordinance and park policy, which requires pets to be under the owner’s control at all times. Campsite pets will also not be allowed on any shoreline in the park.

Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park

Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park will maintain regular hours Friday and Saturday. No grills, alcohol or glass containers are allowed on the beach. Portable charcoal grills may not be brought into the park and only LP gas grills may be used at designated picnic table areas where built-in park charcoal grills are located. Park day-users and campground visitors may enter 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m. All but permitted campers and their authorized visitors must depart by 8 p.m. Camping reservations close at 5 p.m. daily. Tents must be set up by 7 p.m. Only campers with prepaid reservations can gain access 7:30-9:30 p.m. People without a prepaid pass waiting for them will not be admitted after 7:30 p.m. After 9:30 p.m., no one may enter to set up a campsite.

Kids Kampus

Kids Kampus will maintain regular hours 8 a.m -8 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday, and 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday.

Pools

Outdoor pools will be open 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Outdoor pools are scheduled to be open regular hours Monday, with open swim 1–6 p.m., swim team 6–7 p.m. and family swim 7–8 p.m.

The Cecil Aquatics Center, an indoor facility at 13611 Normandy Blvd., will be open 9 a.m.–6 p. m. Saturday and Monday. Sunday, the hours will be 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. The Aquatic Center is closed 2–3 p.m. each day for maintenance. For up-to-date information, please visit www.jaxparks.com.

Tennis complexes

All three city tennis complexes will be open regular hours Saturday, but will be closed Sunday. The hours of operation Monday will be 9 a.m. -6 p.m.

The complexes are the Southside Park Tennis Complex, 1541 Hendricks Ave.; Boone Park Tennis Complex, 3700 Park St.; and Clanzel T. Brown Park Tennis Complex, 4575 Moncrief Road
