Nearly 62,000 bankruptcy cases were pending in the United States Bankruptcy Court of the Middle District of Florida at the end of January.
Just over 10,000 of those were in the Jacksonville Division, which is equipped with 30 employees, judiciary and administrative to process all of those filings. The members of the Jacksonville Bankruptcy Bar Association (JBBA) held a luncheon Wednesday at the Main Branch of the Jacksonville Public Library. The annual event is held to show its appreciation for the hard work of all those who serve the court.
“It is important to show our appreciation for the judiciary and the office of the Clerk of Court and promote camaraderie between staff and our members,” said Jerrett McDonnell, JBBA President. “The reason the office is so efficient is the relationship between the judges and staff and the attorneys. What we have is unique.”
Bankruptcy Court Chief Judge Paul Glenn, Judge Jerry Funk, Bankruptcy Court Clerk of Court Lee Ann Bennett and Chief Deputy Clerk Mike Shadburn attended the event.
