• Gov. Charlie Crist will be in town Friday along with Duval Delegation member State Rep. Lake Ray for a town hall meeting. The two will meet with the community at Florida State College at Jacksonville’s South Campus and provide attendees an opportunity to voice their concerns on a variety of issues. The town hall meeting is from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Nathan H. Wilson Center for the Arts on campus, with registration beginning at 2 p.m.

• Another piece of legislation State Rep. Mike Weinstein had an eye on before session started recently passed through one of his committees. A “slip and fall” bill that would shift the burden of proof in negligence cases from a business to the injured person passed through Weinstein’s Criminal & Civil Justice Policy Council.

• The installation of income-generating red light cameras at 10 of Jacksonville’s busiest intersections has been discussed by City Council for more than two years, but the legality of the issue has stalled the passage of any legislation. A bill that would standardize red light camera usage around the state — HB 325/Uniform Traffic Control — passed unanimously through the Health Care Regulation Policy Committee yesterday. Under the bill, a portion of the fines would go toward certain trauma centers, hospitals, nursing homes and other health programs.

• Speaking ot the House, it met for just over an hour around lunchtime yesterday for a little house cleaning session. The group repealed bills, deleted outdated commissions and language from the statutes. Overall, the House touched on more than 30 bills ranging from repealing the Florida Transportation Corp. Act (HB 915) to repealing an unused Urban Infill and Redevelopment Assistance Grant Program (HB 7055).
