Opening doors, minds for education

Students from J.L. Wilkinson Elementary School in Clay County took a closer look inside the Bryan Simpson U.S. Courthouse last Monday and received a civics lesson, courtesy of U.S. District Court Judge Marcia Morales Howard and U.S. Magistrate Judge James Klindt. Almost 125 children took part in the “Open Doors to Federal Courts” at the federal courthouse, where the judges educated the students about courts at the federal level and participated in a civil mock trial. “I love doing it,” said Morales Howard. “I love having the kids come in here and let them see what really goes on in a realistic environment, instead of the things they see on television.”
