Amanda Dandy is the managing broker of the Prudential Network Realty Referral Company, supervising 130 to so agents who have active licenses, but are not working actively. She refers their business locally, nationally or internationally. She is also out listing and selling again while also helping the company’s Relocation Division with marketing bank-owned properties. In addition, Dandy was the co-chair this year of the Realtor Builder Tradeshow for the fourth time.

Coming to America

Dandy grew up in England. Dandy’s husband, Roger, is a marine salvage surveyor, which caused them to move around a lot. Before real estate, she was a teacher for 15 years. “I trained as a high school teacher in sociology and English. But, I taught every age group except grade 4. I even owned my own school in West Africa for grades K-8.”

Dandy moved here from Canada in 1978 and taught school. She decided to go into real estate when her friend’s husband was opening a real estate company.

Her real estate career

She started in real estate with Balomar in 1987. Prudential Network Realty bought out Balomar in 1988 and Dandy stayed on as an agent in the Ponte Vedra Beach office. In 1990, she was promoted to assistant manager and manager of Prudential’s San Jose office in 1992. She then came back to the Ponte Vedra office as manager in 1994. In November 2008, she moved to Prudential’s corporate office in her current role.

Showtime

“I really do love event planning. It’s a lot of hard work, but a lot of fun. We managed to get most of the group back together that I worked with years ago and it’s just been great. I really believe in the networking between the Realtors and builders as being so important that it is a worthy cause.”

Sharing knowledge

“After years and years of built up knowledge of the history of real estate and the changes that have happened make you realize you can share what you know with other agents, customers and banks. As your experience banks up, you can share more and more. Of course, the thrill of the sale is always good. The fact that I grew up as a teacher, a lot of what I did as a manager was counseling, motivating and teaching.”

Belonging

Dandy is a NEFAR board member and she in involved in the Northeast Florida Builders Association and its Sales and Marketing Council. She also is a member of the Jacksonville Masterworks Chorale. “I sing and have been with them for almost 20 years. I come from a very musical family.”
