County Judge opening draws 15 applicants

The Fourth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission re-ceived 15 applications for an opening in Duval County Court created by Judge Tyrie Boyer’s appointment to the Circuit bench.

Gov. Rick Scott appointed Boyer to the Circuit bench Oct. 20 to fill an opening that will be created by the retirement of Judge Haldane Taylor at the end of the year.

The judicial nominating commission will review a list of 15 applicants for the opening created by Boyer.

The commission will provide the governor with the names of three to six applicants to consider.

The list includes six applicants that have previously been submitted to the governor for consideration for past judicial openings in the Fourth Circuit.

The commission will notify applicants of the interview schedule.

The commission consists of Chairman Wayne Alford of the Alford Law Group, Vice Chairman Richard Alexander of the Alexander Law Practice, Chip Bachara of the Bachara Construction Law Group, Dexter Van Davis of the Davis Law Group, Deno Hicks of Southern Strategy Group, Melissa Williamson Nelson of McGuireWoods, Robert O’Quinn of Cole, Scott & Kissane and William Prichard of Moseley Prichard.

Applicants for the seat are:
