• The Jacksonville Port Authority board of directors selected its audit committee Wednesday and its first task will be to develop a compensation package for port CEO Paul Anderson. Board Vice Chairman Stephen Busey, Treasurer Jim Citrano and member John Anderson were chosen for the committee.
• Ryan Cantey of Jacksonville and Matt Keene of Melbourne will paddle the length of the St. Johns River through the month to raise awareness of Florida’s ecosystem, aquifer and recreational opportunities. Beginning today, they will kayak from Melbourne north 310 miles until they reach the Atlantic Ocean in Mayport Dec. 29, all in an effort to raise awareness and collect donations for the St. Johns Riverkeeper.
• Kendale Design/Build General Contractors will remodel a former restaurant at 4291 Roosevelt Blvd. for the Lopez Wellness Center. Two City permits, with combined project costs of $480,000, show a remodeling of a 4,419-square-foot building and an accessory building.
• Look for Star Meats & Produce at 1624 Edgewood Ave. W. off Lem Turner Road. The City issued a building permit for Williams & Rowe Co. Inc. to renovate 10,887 square feet of space for the market at a project cost of $100,000.
• On the office and retail side, the City approved permits for Flagler Construction Corp. to renovate office space for Caterpillar Inc. at 12740 Gran Bay Parkway W., No. 2120, at a project cost of $51,000; Landmark Remodeling Inc. will make interior renovations for Tease Hair Studio at 1563 Alford Place at a project cost of $18,000.
