Convergys wants to fill 600 jobs

Convergys Corp. announced Thursday it is looking for almost 600 customer service and sales employees at its Jacksonville center to support clients in the communications and landscaping industries.

Candidates can attend one of two information sessions. The sessions are 10-11:30 a.m. or noon-1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Convergys center at 8000 Baymeadows Way.

“We’re starting the New Year with new business, and that means additional opportunities for local job seekers,” said Robin Cheshire, site leader for the Jacksonville Convergys contact center, in a news release.

“In addition to hiring front-line customer service and sales representatives, we also have opportunities for supervisors, operations managers and trainers,” said Cheshire.

Convergys said potential employees should have strong computer and keyboarding competency and the ability to work flexible hours.

Employment is contingent on the successful completion of a background check and drug screening.

The company announced it will hire about 440 people to support two programs for a client in the communications industry.

One program requires representatives with extensive customer service experience, as well as some sales experience.

Employees will receive five weeks of paid comprehensive training, and the anticipated hours of operation are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturdays.

Convergys said the other program requires representatives with strong sales experience in addition to experience handling a variety of customer interactions.

Employees will receive 10 weeks of paid training, and hours are 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-8 p.m. on Saturdays.

Seasonal customer service and sales positions supporting a client in the landscaping industry will begin in February and continue through June. Employees will receive two weeks of paid training.
