• ICS Logistics President Terry Brown joined the Jacksonville advisory board of FirstAtlantic Bank. He will serve as an advocate for the bank and help it identify new business opportunities. FirstAtlantic Bank has four locations in the Jacksonville and St. Augustine markets.
• Sean Mulholland, president of Jacksonville-based Mulholland Investigation and Security Consulting, presented “The Kinesic Interviewing Technique” at the 2011 International Intelligence Network Annual Conference in Washington, D.C., to 125 investigative professionals from around the world. “Kinesic Interviewing” is an investigative interviewing tool which takes into account physiological indicators of stress that can signify whether a subject is being truthful or not.
• The Police Athletic League of Jacksonville plans its Young PAL Professionals Launch Party 5-9 p.m. May 25 at SUITE at St. Johns Town Center. The group is aimed at 21-45-year-olds. Cost is $20 a person. Proceeds benefit PAL’s summer camp for at-risk youth in Jacksonville.
• The Florida Department of Elder Affairs awarded a $1,000 grant to Jacksonville Area Legal Aid to host a community event designed to educate seniors about the legal rights and protections available to them. The grant was one of 14 awarded statewide during May’s recognition of Elder Law Month and Older Americans Month. The grant will pay for only a single community event, and the department hopes the collaboration will be part of an ongoing effort between JALA and the local aging services network to identify and address the needs of seniors in the area.
• Jacksonville-based CSX Corp. will host investors and analysts at an investor conference May 18 in Detroit. CSX management will make presentations focusing on the railroad’s current initiatives and strategies for continued growth
• The Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce moved the dates by a day for its 31st Annual Leadership Trip to Houston. It’s Sept. 26-28. It starts and ends a day earlier than first announced. The dates were changed to better accommodate participants’ schedules.
