Sarah Dalrymple has been a mortgage loan consultant with SunTrust Mortgage since August. She had previously worked with the company and says she's happy to be back.

Since moving to Florida in 2003, she has worked for Regions Mortgage, BB&T, EverBank, Fifth Third Bank and SunTrust Bank. "I started in mortgage lending industry in 1985 at a small savings and loan bank in Laurel, Miss."

Before lending?

She worked for a Coldwell Banker office, as a Realtor, property manager and closing coordinator in Missouri for about five years before moving back to Mississippi and starting in the mortgage business.

Why go into mortgage industry?

"I was in the right place at the right time. When I moved backed to Mississippi, there was a job opening for a loan processor. Since I had experience in the real estate business, the bank president decided to train me. From there I moved up to loan originator and later sales manager. I love this business."

Past experience help?

"Having been a Realtor and actually the closing coordinator for the Coldwell Banker office, I can really identify with all the work the Realtor has put in, the timelines required and the emotions that get involved with a home purchase."

How did she get here?

She transferred to Jacksonville with her job with AmSouth (now Regions) in 2003. "My husband was at retirement age and wanted to move to sunny Florida. I had the opportunity to move to Jacksonville, Ocala, Tampa or really anywhere. There was an AmSouth here. I visited Jacksonville and fell in love with it."

How's it going?

The mortgage business has been good to her, she says. "It is a busy time right now with rates at an all-time low. Also the business is harder than it has ever been because of regulation changes in the last few years."

How are Realtors important to you?

"Realtors are very important me. They normally have the first contact with the client and hopefully can refer that client to a trusted loan officer for a good quality preapproval."

Like about lending?

Dalrymple said she loves getting a client into a home. "Every situation is different. Some borrowers need more hands-on time with their loan officers others are seasoned borrowers and just need someone to guide the way."

Advice for Realtors when dealing with loan officers?

She said that she would like them to remember that lenders really want every deal to work as much as the Realtor does. "We are their business partner and are committed to giving the client the best possible experience."

Family

She has been married to Ed Dalrymple for 22 years. She has one son, Jared Walters and two stepchildren, Ed Dalrymple Jr. and Debbie Herring.

Professional organizations

She is a member of the Northeast Association of Realtors and the Northeast Florida Builders Association. She's active in the Sales and Marketing Council.

Advice for new loan officer

"Really know what products that you can offer a client. Every lender may have different options for their clients. Know what you can bring to the table to do the very best thing for your client. Always put the client first."

Something about you no one knows

"I enjoy sketching and painting. I used to do quite a bit of it but just don't seem to have the time these days."
