• Office space is being built out for former Jacksonville Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver in the EverBank Building at 501 Riverside Ave. Commercial Interiors of Jacksonville Inc. is the contractor for the project, on the ninth floor. Space in lawyer Paul Harden’s suite is being split to accommodate Weaver’s office, according to the contractor. The project cost for the 2,566-square-foot office for Weaver is $74,131, according to a City building permit issued Tuesday. Daren Hoffman, president of Commercial Interiors, said construction began this week and should be completed by the end of March.
• Jacksonville-based Florida Capital Bank announced Tuesday that it has raised $25 million in capital in the past 15 months, including $10 million invested by the bank’s board of directors. The bank has been under order from regulators to increase its capital and had a capital-to-assets ratio of 3.4 percent as of Dec. 31, according to its year-end financial statement filed with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
• Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. Chairman, President and CEO Peter Lynch posted Friday in his weekly letter to team members that the company is just two weeks from the special meeting of shareholders to vote on the proposed merger with Bi-Lo. “If approved, we expect to quickly transition from planning to fully integrating our companies,” he said. Lynch said he looked forward to providing more information. The meeting is March 9.
• Lynch also said he wanted to address conflicting news reports about the chain’s customer satisfaction rating. He said Temkin Experience Rating ranked Winn-Dixie third in a list of top grocery chains for customer experience, while the American Customer Satisfaction Index showed Winn-Dixie’s rating for the fourth quarter of 2011 decreased 1.3 percent from last year. Winn-Dixie’s Larry Appel reported to the store teams “that our own Guest Experience survey results were very positive for the second quarter.” Lynch said the results of the three measures were “like comparing apples and oranges” and said the best measure was the Guest Experience Survey, which found increases in hospitality and friendliness measures and “our guests are also noticing that our stores are cleaner and are giving us better freshness scores in every department.”
• Still speaking of Winn-Dixie, it announced Tuesday it was expanding its fuelperks! Program to include hundreds of bonus items each week to save customers more money at the gas pump. Each bonus fuelperks! item purchased is worth 5 cents to 50 cents off every gallon of gas. “Purchasing multiple bonus fuelperks! items is a great way to speed up gas savings, and there is no limit on the number of bonus fuelperks! items that can be purchased,” said a Winn-Dixie news release.
