When the curtain went up for the first time at the Florida Theatre in 1927, Web pages were 74 years in the future and “branding” was what ranchers did with a hot iron to identify their livestock.
Times have changed. While much care has been taken to preserve the historic original theater along Forsyth Street, sustaining it and making it a successful arts and entertainment venue has had to keep up.
A new website and brand logo debuted Wednesday to improve customer service and enhance the Florida Theatre’s position in the community, said Kendall Barsin, marketing director.
“The rebranding stemmed from wanting a new website. We wanted something that was more user-friendly,” Barsin said.
She said the process began two years ago through surveys and polling of community members.
“A lot of people don’t understand we are a nonprofit organization and they don’t understand the historic value of the building. We also host a variety of events that can bring in all generations and the theater is for rent,” said Barsin.
“We have to make sure we keep our historic values but make sure we stay fresh at the same time,” she said.
