Governor Rick Scott has signed bills that enact two of the Florida Home Builders Association’s 2012 Legislative Priorities.

Refusing to buckle to pressure from homeowners associations seeking a veto, Scott signed the bill which limits the state’s one-year implied warranty to the home itself, not the surrounding infrastructure.

The bill is a legislative remedy to an adverse court ruling and should save developers thousands of dollars in liability-related costs.

The governor also signed a bill to reduce metal theft, a huge problem for the construction industry. For details on these bills and a summary of FHBA’s other legislative successes, go to www.fhba.com then Features/Legislative Updates.
