Purpose: to plan Council programs, MLS caravans and social events. Council chairpersons lead these functions within each Council.
Manager: Carolyn Yow is NEFAR’s St. Johns area manager.
Office: NEFAR’s St. Johns Service Center, 475 W. Town Place, Ste. 120 in St. Augustine.
Membership: Realtor members and NEFAR’s affiliate/business partners. That includes a number of professions such as lenders, pest control, title insurance, home warranty and real estate attorneys.
Who can join: Any NEFAR member can attend any NEFAR council function or activity.
When do they meet? Currently, the St. Johns Council holds monthly breakfast meetings on the first Wednesday of each month in the World Golf Village area.
How many attend: 20 or so.
Cost to attend: At present, there is no charge for the meetings.
Meeting agenda: The meetings include a speaker. Topics vary but all have a theme of interest to the real estate community.
Caravans: No caravans at present.
Leadership: Mark Rosener of Watson Realty is the 2012 chairperson.
Rosener’s role: Rosener leads the group in planning for events, meetings and activities.
Yow’s role: Each Council has a NEFAR staff person assigned to it as a liaison. The liaison coordinates information and activities for that council, in cooperation with the Council chairperson. Each staff liaison has a separate, regular job function within NEFAR. They are a liaison to the Council only. Yow handles numerous member services functions such as processing new members as they join, handling member record changes, corrections and additions; handling all facets of lockboxes and keys for distribution to members, processing dues and payments, answering member services questions, and educating members on their membership requirements, how to use lockboxes/keys, and much more. Being a liaison is an ancillary function to their primary role within NEFAR.
