$20,000. Nice wedding gift, huh?
Not for Patricia and William LeSeur. They thought it was a scam and turned it down. No one would fool this pair — after all, he's in his 80's and she in her 70's, and they've seen and heard it all.
The newlyweds had entered a Richmond American promotion while looking for a new home recently. It was a nationwide promotion to give $20,000 to a prospective homebuyer who visits one of their model homes and enters the contest each quarter this year.
When they and their Realtor, Watson agent Mary Ann Crouch, were contacted with the good news, they thought it was a ruse and didn't want to accept.
It took several days and several efforts to convince them that it was a legit contest and the local Richmond American Homes office wanted to give them $20,000.
Finally, they believed and were awarded the $20,000 and a large souvenir check last month in front of the Richmond American Homes Design Center in Orange Park.
