U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall, D-W.Va., was in town Monday to receive a firsthand look at the Jacksonville Port Authority facilities and receive a briefing on port projects. Rahall (seated next to U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown) is a ranking member of the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and member of the Water Resources Reform and Development Act Conference Committee. The Mile Point project was addressed in the bill, but harbor deepening was not, which Brown proposed through an amendment. "A picture really is worth a thousand words," port CEO Brian Taylor said through a news release. "I know that personally seeing activity on our port and the number of people employed here on a regular basis makes the clear case for investment in our critical growth projects."
