Three of Jacksonville's highest-profile projects — FedEx, Nordstrom and the Southbank Riverwalk — won approvals Tuesday for construction permits that total almost $45 million.
The three are expected to be completed in 2014 and 2015.
The city Building Inspection Division approved construction permits for:
• FedEx Ground Package System Inc., three permits totaling $19.1 million at Cecil Commerce Center in West Jacksonville. Evans General Contractors LLC is the contractor.
The three buildings at 13509 Waterworks St. total 311,900 square feet and comprise a 304,700-square-foot sorting facility main building ($18.7 million), a 5,090-square-foot truck maintenance building ($314,113) and a 2,110-square-foot gateway building ($130,212).
The architect is Randall-Paulson Architects Inc. of Roswell, Ga. FedEx has said it expects completion in summer 2015.
FedEx confirmed in June it would build the distribution center and transfer 180 employees from its 2480 Lane Ave. N. facility to the new, larger hub that will serve the Jacksonville area.
• Nordstrom Inc., a permit for a $14.38 million interior build-out at 4835 Town Crossing Drive in St. Johns Town Center.
IBEX Construction Florida LLC is the contractor for the tenant build-out for the two-level, 130,000-square-foot store. It also is the contractor for the $6 million shell structure.
While the Nordstrom permit application indicates 130,000 square feet of space, the plans show a more specific 127,468 square feet.
Nordstrom is expected to open in October.
The city already has approved construction permits for the two-building wing that will connect Nordstrom to St. Johns Town Center, between Brooks Brothers and Louis Vuitton at the property's southwest side.
The interior permit application originally listed a build-out of $25 million. It appears the construction of the shell and interior build-out now will total $20.38 million.
Seattle-based Nordstrom also will feature one of its Ebar coffee shops at the front entrance.

• The Southbank Riverwalk, a permit for $11.17 million to demolish and rebuild most of the decking along the St. Johns River on the Downtown Southbank.
The Haskell Co. is the contractor for the project, shown on an earlier permit at an estimated cost of $14.9 million. Completion is expected in September.
The project's address is 1015 Museum Circle.
The construction is from Friendship Fountain to midway into the Wyndham hotel property.
The construction permit covers the demolition and reconstruction, excluding the structure that housed the Jacksonville Historical Center pending an asbestos survey.
Plans for the Riverwalk project were announced Sept. 5. The 28-year-old wooden walkway is decaying and will be replaced with a mostly concrete structure.
The address on the project permit is for the former museum building, which Haskell already has demolished at project cost of $50,000.
That museum, now called the Jacksonville Maritime Heritage Center, moved to the Jacksonville Landing on the Northbank of the St. Johns River.
David DeCamp, director of communications for Mayor Alvin Brown, said in August the cost to rebuild the Riverwalk is not to exceed $15 million.
