Naomi Lumley is missing a dog and one of Jacksonville’s largest non-profits wants her to get it back.

It’s a promotion for daniel, the local children’s home (with a small “d” in its name), that’s a pet charity for Womenade, the group of ladies in the real estate and construction industries.

The gimmick: Lumley’s ceramic dog has been “kidnapped” and the only way to get it back is for everyone to send “ransom” money to daniel.

The surly-looking bulldog is a model of the University of Georgia’s mascot, Uga, which can be seen on the sidelines at football games.

The Womenade group is distributing a flyer titled “Woof! Woof!” with a photo of a weeping Lumley, the Palencia broker. The flyer adds, “She can only get him back if we all join together to pay the ransom by making a donation to daniel ...”

The donations, or “ransom,” should go to Womenade founder Judy Hicks of Re/Max Coastal at 250 A1A North, Ponte Vedra Beach 32082.

The money raised will be used to renovate a room at the charity’s offices on Belfort Road.

The room is presently used by staff members to work with at-risk children and Shelly Davalos of daniel said, “We want the room to feel more like ‘a home’ for the kids and provide the needed privacy.”

According to Davalos, the renovation of the 21x21 room will include new flooring, installation of a kitchen area, a new ceiling, computers and televisions, desks and file cabinets, lights and bathroom.
