National Association of Home Builders Chief Executive Officer Jerry Howard will be the featured speaker at Florida Home Builders Association Spring Legislative Conference on April 16-17 in Tallahassee.

Howard has over 25 years of association experience and a lifetime in the housing industry. He began his association career at the National Association of Realtors, where he served as a legislative analyst on tax issues.

Prior to joining NAHB, he served as the chief lobbyist for the National Council of State Housing Agencies where he was instrumental in the development of the low-income housing tax credit as part of the Tax Reform Act of 1986.

He came to NAHB as tax counsel in 1988 and served in a variety of roles, including Chief Lobbyist, prior to taking over as CEO in February 2001. At the FHBA conference, Howard will address a breakfast meeting of Local HBA Presidents and Executive Officers on the morning of April 17 followed by a presentation to all delegates.

The conference begins on April 16 with a legislative briefing at the Tallahassee City Commission Chambers and follows with legislative visits and a reception at the downtown Governor’s Club.

The schedule on April 17 includes more time for legislative visits, a meeting of the FHBA Executive Committee and an FHBA Board of Directors meeting, where the initial report of the Strategic Planning Committee will be given.
