Pollo Tropical is joining the growth at Bartram Park in Jacksonville's Southside.

The Miami-based chain, with three restaurants in Jacksonville, plans to build its fourth at 13776 Old St. Augustine Road in the Shoppes at Bartram Park.

The restaurant site is owned by Compass Bank, according to a concurrency application.

Pollo Tropical Chicken on the Grill is part of Pollo Operations Inc. of Miami.

No contractor is specified on a permit application for the $340,000 project. England, Thims & Miller Inc. is the civil engineer.

Site plans show the 3,800-square-foot restaurant will have 120 seats and a drive-thru.

The chain focuses on Caribbean-inspired, citrus-marinated grilled chicken. In addition to its signature grilled chicken, it offers slow-roasted mojo pork, salads, sandwiches and wraps.

Pollo Tropical restaurants operate in River City Marketplace, The Markets at Town Center and along San Jose Boulevard, south of Interstate 295.

Bartram Park also is the site for a new PDQ restaurant, the Tim Tebow-backed "People Dedicated to Quality" chain in North Florida that focuses on chicken tenders and sandwiches.

The area's first PDQ opened Nov. 3 at Beach and Hodges boulevards.

More are planned throughout Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.

Zaxby's to open in Argyle

Site plans were filed for Zaxby's to open at 9710 Applecross Road in Southwest Jacksonville.

The almost 3,850-square-foot restaurant is planned on 1.44 acres at Applecross Road and Merchants Way, just off Argyle Forest Boulevard.

Oakleaf Jasz Inc. of Fernandina Beach is the developer. Carter Engineering Consultants is the civil engineer.

The chain, which sells chicken tenders, sandwiches and other chicken menu items, has at least 16 locations in Northeast Florida.

Little Caesars plans East Arlington location

The window at the former Blockbuster store at 3031 Monument Road in East Arlington added a sign for Little Caesars pizza.

The window already sports a "Dunkin' Donuts Baskin-Robbins Coming Soon" sign.

Little Caesars operates at least 15 stores in the Jacksonville area.
