Jacksonville Farmers Market at 75 and growing

The Jacksonville Farmers Market celebrated its 75th year in business Friday with a VIP lunch and reception that featured several elected officials in attendance. Nikolai Vitti, Duval County Public Schools superintendent; Harry Frisch, Beaver Street Fisheries Inc. chairman; Jeff Edwards, company chief financial officer; and Greg Tison, market general manager, all provided remarks for a scheduled crowd of 175. Beaver Street Fisheries owns the market. Edwards provided a history lesson of the market and its role moving forward, while Vitti talked about his Parent Academy initiative and child health and wellness. Frisch closed the event, thanking Jacksonville for the success of the market and his vision of Jacksonville becoming a greater city in the next several years.
