First Transit to cut 138 jobs

First Transit Inc. filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice on Wednesday, saying it will cut 138 jobs on Dec. 31.

Cincinnati-based First Transit has been operating the Jacksonville Transportation Authority’s Connexion service, which provides transportation for elderly and disabled riders who cannot use regular bus service.

However, the JTA in August awarded the Connexion contract to a new provider, according to The Florida Times-Union.
