Pet Walk, One Spark documentary highlight Art Walk tonight
First Wednesday Art Walk tonight will be furrier than most. The theme for September's event is Pet Walk and features pet contests, fashion shows and art from 5-9 p.m. Downtown, rain or shine. Several venues will be pet-friendly with information about pet health and adoption. Also tonight, a documentary about One Spark will premiere at Hemming Plaza before it heads out to the festival circuit. The program starts at 7 p.m. and is kicked off by Grandpa's Cough Medicine. JAX Chamber Industry Weeks continue at JAA
JAX Chamber President Daniel Davis will continue the organization's #ilovejax campaign at Cecil Airport from 8:15-10:30 a.m. today. Jacksonville Aviation Authority CEO Steve Grossman will provide Davis and chamber representatives with a tour of the Florida State College at Jacksonville facilities and Flightline, among other destinations. The #ilovejax campaign started last year to improve residents' perception of the region.
Library to host cookbook event
The Jacksonville Public Library will partner with the Florida State College at Jacksonville Foundation to host My Favorite Cookbook, a fundraising event to benefit the college's culinary program, at 7 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Main Library. "Top Chef" season 9 participant Grayson Schmitz will talk about her favorite cookbook, "The Joy of Cooking," and provide attendees with a view of the Bravo channel reality show. The program is free to the public and will be followed by a book signing. CPA chapter to meet Sept. 19
The Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants Jacksonville Chapter's membership meeting is scheduled 3-5 p.m. Sept. 19 at The University Club. Marshall Gunn, a certified public accountant and upcoming chair of the institute, will provide a state-level update and Florida Rep. Charles McBurney, a Republican representing Jacksonville's District 16, will provide a legislative update of new state laws that affect CPAs. A reception follows from 5-6 p.m.

Port CEO scheduled for ULI
Urban Land Institute North Florida will host Jacksonville Port Authority CEO Brian Taylor at its 8-9 a.m. Oct. 24 member meeting. Taylor joined the port in late July after a career in the private sector, most recently with Horizon Lines. The meeting is open to members only. Business executives to talk First Coast
Urban Land Institute North Florida and the NAIOP commercial real estate group will host a discussion 11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Omni Downtown. The topic will be "Making the First Coast the First Choice," about the decision-making process for companies that chose Jacksonville — such as Florida Blue, Fidelity and Merrill Lynch — to help industry members attract more companies. Thomas Alcide with Saft America, Richard Caplin with HCI and Michael Ianella of Deutsche Bank Florida will be the guest speakers with Ted Carter, city Office of Economic Development executive director, serving as the moderator. JCCI annual meeting set for Oct. 10
Jacksonville Community Council Inc. will have its 39th annual meeting 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 10 at WJCT Studios, 100 Festival Park Ave. "This is my story" is the theme and the event will focus on "stories of building a better Jacksonville." Sauer awarded Cancer Specialists of North Florida project
Sauer Inc. was awarded the contract to build a linear accelerator vault project for Cancer Specialists of North Florida, which is Sauer's second time working with the medical group. The Jacksonville-based construction company expects to break ground on the 11,000-square-foot facility next week and complete it in the spring. The center, along A.C. Skinner Parkway, will include offices, administrative space and conference rooms; exam and treatment rooms, procedure rooms, infusion areas and patient dressing rooms; and a pharmacy, library and provisions for a mobile PET/CT. Gresham Smith & Partners of Jacksonville is the project designer.
