PSS World Medical Inc. filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification notice with the state Tuesday that it is cutting 124 jobs.
The Jacksonville-based medical supply distributor was acquired this year by McKesson Corp
PSS employed about 780 people in Jacksonville and 4,000 overall when it announced the $2.1 billion acquisition.
McKesson has repeatedly stated its interest in keeping PSS’ sales staff after the merger and while it never said anything about the headquarters staff, cutbacks were expected in the corporate office.
The notice says 124 jobs in wholesale trade at 6500 Bowden Road will be affected.
The layoff dates are Oct. 15 through Feb. 15.
