Workers Wednesday were dismantling the former Maritime Museum near Friendship Park along the St. Johns River Downtown. It’s the first step in the renovation of the Southbank Riverwalk. When it’s complete, scheduled in September 2014, the new riverfront walkway will have 53,000 square feet of brick pavers, 5,600 feet of new guardrails, improved lighting, benches, pet stations, bicycle racks and floating docks. A city spokesman has said the cost will not exceed $15 million.
