Motorists traveling west along Bay Street are now greeted at Ocean Street by a message from the JAX Chamber, part of the organization’s renovation of its offices, parking lot and grounds. When the project was announced several years ago, chamber officials said the theme was that the building is located at “Downtown’s front door.” In addition to the signage, flags recognizing the United States, the state of Florida, the city and the chamber fly alongside the flags of nations represented locally by worldwide or North American headquarters in Jacksonville. The renovation is the first since 1981. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is being planned for January when the entire project is complete.
