Jacksonville's top 10 deli and frozen edibles

The Shelby Report of the Southeast trade publication, which last month reported the area's top edibles, this month reported the "Top 25" deli and frozen foods sold among 11 Southeastern markets based on sales.

IRI, a Chicago-based market and shopping research firm, calculated and provided the information for Shelby.

Data reflects sales in multi-outlet markets, including supermarkets, drugstores, mass-market retailers, military commissaries and select club and dollar retail chains.

Jacksonville was one of the 11 markets. Sales were for the 52 weeks ending July 14.

The deli list

The top 10 deli items sold in Jacksonville were:

• Oscar Mayer sliced lunchmeat, $8.09 million

• Nobrand uncooked meats (no poultry), $6.6 million

• Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh sliced lunchmeat, $5.6 million

• Ball Park frankfurters, $5.54 million

• Oscar Mayer bacon, $5.43 million

• Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage/ham, $4.862 million

• Oscar Mayer Lunchables, $4.855 million

• Oscar Mayer frankfurters, $3.53 million

• Johnsonville dinner sausage, $3.28 million

• Hillshire Farms dinner sausage, $3.13 million

The frozen list

The top 10 frozen products sold in Jacksonville were:

• Stouffers multi-serve dinners/entrees, $7.37 million

• DiGiorno Pizza, $7.19 million

• Tyson processed frozen/refrigerated chicken, $6.16 million

• Tyson frozen/refrigerated chicken, $5.87 million

• Blue Bell Ice Cream, $5.45 million

• Breyers ice cream, $4.75 million

• Stouffers single serve frozen dinners/entrees, $4 million

• Hot Pockets frozen handheld entrees, $3.97 million

• Jimmy Dean frozen breakfast handheld, $3.48 million

• Bubba Burger frozen meat (no poultry), $3.1 million

Duval County Tax Collector Michael Corrigan issued business licenses for:

• Shelly R. Gilliard Bar B Q, 4173 Markin Drive, to Shelly R. Gilliard.

• Pie Heaven Bakery Café, 1980 Mayport Road, to Anita Gay Hyde.

• Café Freda Inc., 2782 Park St., to Mary E. Register Freda.

Freshfields Farm taking shape in Southside

Freshfields Farm is scheduled to open its produce and meat market before the holidays at 5555 University Blvd. W. in South Jacksonville. Williams & Rowe Co. Inc. is the contractor. The site formerly was the location of Liberty Furniture.
