Dear members,

When I was sworn in as NEFBA president in January, it was a proud moment in my life and career. I was, after all, following in the footsteps of outstanding leadership that has made NEFBA one of the most influential and effective trade associations in the country over the past 70 years.

I was even more proud last month when I had the privilege of working side by side with many of you during the week-long HabiJax/NEFBA/Builders Care Builders Blitz in New Town.

Far removed from the plush surroundings of the officer installation, New Town was noisy with the sounds of construction, overflowing with hundreds of volunteers on a mission and glowing with the sweat of labor. It was music to the ears and delightful to behold.

During that week in June, the combined efforts of HabiJax, NEFBA, Builders Care, sponsoring companies, volunteers, business partners, the City of Jacksonville, New Town residents and the entire community resulted in new homes and renovated homes for 50 families in need — in only six days.

A spirit of enthusiasm and gratitude made the heat and aching muscles worthwhile. Seeing the team spirit and unselfish dedication of friends and strangers made the long days fly by.

I’m proud of NEFBA and Builders Care. I’m proud of what results when we put our best resources to work on large problems such as substandard housing and lack of housing. As a NEFBA member, whether you were on the job site or not, you can be proud of your association and each other. We are all in this together. Experiences like the Builders Blitz show us how important we are to each other and the community.

Thanks to all of you. I hope you’re feeling as much pride as I do.

Sincerely,

Daniel Blanchard

NEFBA President

EVP, Ewing Realty
