What is a little known or unknown fact about yourself (past or present)?

I started in the real estate industry as a real estate agent. I worked as a buyer’s agent at Re/Max Coastal Real Estate in Ponte Vedra. During the downturn of the market between 2008 and 2012, I was a store manager for Target.

Where are you from and what brought you to Jacksonville?

I grew up in a small town in northern Michigan, St.Helen. When I graduated from high school, I moved to Auburn, Ala., where I received my BA in International Trade-German from Auburn University.

After studying abroad and living in Europe, I decided not to pursue a career overseas. My first job was in Tallahassee as a human resources manager with Target. Target transferred me to Jacksonville after just six months in Tallahassee.

About a year after living and working in Jacksonville, my best friend from Michigan got married and one of my best friends from elementary school came down to Florida for the wedding. After being away from Michigan for six years, I ended up marrying a man that sat in front of me in first-grade. My husband, Jason, and I have two kids, Brady, 10, and Olivia, 8. We live in Fernandina Beach and love the small town. It reminds me of our home town in Michigan.

Your motto?

Make your life a story worth telling.

How do you feel SMC has benefitted your life and business, both personally and professionally?

SMC was the first professional organization that I joined when I entered the mortgage business. Personally, I have made lifelong friends. Professionally, I have created true business partnerships instead of just completing transactions within the industry.

I am truly grateful to SMC and NEFBA for the relationships that I have created within the organization and the support that the people of SMC have always provided to me.
