What if a customer asked their Realtor for help with a home search like this?
“My husband and I are both on active duty and we’d like to buy a house. We should be PCSing in about three months. I’ve got A-school and then B-school. And then I’ll probably be down 10 weeks later. So, what’s the first step?”
Knowing what that all means gives an agent a head start working with a client, said Realtor and retired Navy officer Patricia Sherman. Sherman offers training for Realtors who want to work with the military at two classes conducted through NEFAR.
The half-day Florida Military Specialist class covers Florida’s military bases, ranks and pay grades, and military programs and benefits.
The full-day Military Relocation Professional Certification course teaches the process of military relocation, advantages of renting versus buying, and VA loans.
“Military people like to work with other military people, or those who have that understanding,” Sherman said.
NEFAR will hold its next Military Relocation Professional Certification course Jan. 30.
