Sales and Marketing Council motivates, enlightens members

David Wakefield has been in customer service-related industries since 1984 and in the mortgage business for 21 years.

He is an expert contributor to The Florida Times-Union, guest speaker on talk radio and has headed local groups such as The Executive Association and now the Sales and Marketing Council.

Wakefield graduated from the University of North Florida, Florida HomeLoan School of Mortgage Banking and The Loan Officer Productivity School.

As a husband and father of three, he understands the importance of family, and knows the difficulty in finding a balance between church, family and work. 

Wakefield invites NEFBA members to attend any of this busy council’s activities for a taste of the value of membership.

“Our monthly breakfast is always informative, timely and sometimes downright entertaining,” he said. “The food is good and we strive to bring influential, reputable and knowledgeable speakers to keep us well informed.”

In addition, SMC hosts mixers for real estate professionals, Sam Tram visits through various communities, the Realtor-Builder Tradeshow and additional educational opportunities. Networking and education are a major focus of SMC.

“Our annual awards ceremony is also an exceptional opportunity for our members,” Wakefield said. “This level of recognition puts the spotlight on excellence and establishes winners as the best of the best. Winning a Laurel is more than taking home a trophy. It’s a recognized standard of excellence and trophy holders increase their exposure and enhance their reputations in the community.”

The council itself has won numerous awards at the state (FHBA) and national (NAHB) levels in competition with other SMCs, frequently bringing home first- and second-place trophies due to the diligence and hard work of council members.

“SMC is the place to be,” Wakefield said. “By being involved with SMC, industry professionals are given an opportunity to meet, greet and network with their peers. SMC’s vision is to enlighten, motivate and educate NEFBA members through dynamic programs and networking opportunities so more new homes are sold. Our mission is to be the most effective sales and marketing council for new homes sales.”
