I may be biased, but spring in Northeast Florida is an amazing time of the year — ideal weather, longer days, dormant landscapes coming back in bloom and golf courses in every direction.

Spring is also a great time at NEFBA. Our calendar is filled with excitement.

From the Parade of Homes to the membership drive to the apprentice graduation, these events are steeped in tradition and have become symbols of our dedication to the community, our industry and the association.

The Parade of Homes is a springtime tradition and a highlight on NEFBA’s yearly calendar.

This event is our primary method of interacting directly with the public on a large scale.

Since 1954, the public has eagerly looked forward to exploring Jacksonville’s finest neighborhoods, examining the best craftsmanship of NEFBA builders and seeing the latest in decorating trends.

An incredible 107 homes were entered in this year’s Parade, led by 14 entries from one builder — Dream Finders Homes.

This year’s Parade, April 16-24, will culminate with the Parade Banquet on April 28, when the best-of-the-best will be announced and honored.

May begins with our annual membership drive that challenges member teams to see who can enroll the most new members.

Membership is the lifeblood of our association, and over the past several years this membership drive has been a key catalyst in the continued growth that we have experienced.

The drive begins with a kick-off party, followed by a two-day call-a-thon from the NEFBA offices and topped off with a membership welcome party.

Good natured competition fires the enthusiasm as members vie for prizes, recognition and the thrill of bringing in the most new members.

Finally, the Apprenticeship Program will be holding its graduation and reception May 10.

The graduation ceremony salutes the four years of hard work and commitment to graduating electricians, carpenters, plumbers and heating and air-conditioning technicians.

A reception honors the friends and families of the graduates.

Through the Apprenticeship Program, NEFBA contributes to the local economy through providing wages for approximately 200 students, and the industry gains well-trained, experienced construction trade professionals.

Join me in celebrating our spring traditions and setting new benchmarks in Parade participation and attendance, new NEFBA members added to our great association and to the opportunities provided through our Apprenticeship Program.

We can all be proud of our association and all we do together to improve the quality of life in Northeast Florida. I know I am.

Speaking of being proud of our association, congratulations to Executive Officer Corey Deal, one of the Jacksonville Business Journal’s 40 Under 40.

Sincerely,

Chet Skinner
