The Northeast Florida Association of Realtors raised $39,486 during its 13th annual Charity Bass Fishing Tournament and Family Fun Day.
The event was along the St. Johns River in Palatka.
The funds were donated to Haven Hospice, which has received close to $290,000 from the NEFAR-led tournaments.
This year’s catch-and-release event had 189 fishing teams, up from 162 in 2015 and 114 in 2014. This year’s donation also exceeded last year’s $35,256.
After weigh-in, there were fishing team prizes along with drawings for other giveaways.
Terrell Newberry, 2016 NEFAR president, said in a news release the tournament is one way the organization collectively commits to helping Northeast Florida.
Generation Homes celebrates home ownership month
June is the National Association of Home Builders “National Home Ownership Month.”
According to the organization’s economists, building 100 single-family homes in a typical metro area includes $28.7 million in local income, $3.6 million in taxes and other revenue along with 394 local jobs.
Generation Homes is using it to promote their view of what building and buying a home should be.
The company is building its Sea View community in St. Augustine Beach along with other communities in Northeast Florida.
Throughout each, it’s using its GrowHOME concept to allow for growth and change during a home’s design phase so renovations and additions can be pre-engineered for ease and cost effectiveness.
“Our goal is to help customers plan for their future with their home,” said Cora Johnston, Generation Homes president, in a news release.
