U.S. District Judge Jordan Pratt in the Jacksonville Division of the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida, is accepting applications for a judicial law clerk to begin work immediately.
The Middle District’s newest judge, Pratt was senior counsel at First Liberty Institute from from 2021-23. In 2023, he was appointed to the Florida 5th District Court of Appeal.
Pratt was nominated by President Donald Trump to the U.S. District Court May 28, 2025, and confirmed Oct. 28, 2025.
Law clerks have full responsibility for their assigned civil and criminal cases.
They review complaints for jurisdiction, draft proposed orders, conduct legal research, manage the daily activity of assigned civil cases, serve as a legal adviser on pending litigation, assist with and attend court proceedings and perform other duties as needed.
Applicants must have graduated from an accredited U.S. law school.
It is preferred but not required that the candidate be licensed to practice law and have at least one year of post-law school experience in litigation clerking, in private practice or other government work.
Experience on law review, mock trial and moot court is preferred but not required.
The selected candidate must pass a background check as a condition of employment.
Interested candidates must be willing to at least commit to a term through November 2026.
