After 30 years of leading Sight & Sound and Mugwump Productions, Jon Davis is retiring from his day-to-day role as president and CEO and moving into a full-time board position in January.

In a Dec. 12 letter addressed to friends, colleagues, clients and the Jacksonville community, Davis said making the change gave him the chance to reflect on the business’s history.

“I’m honestly overwhelmed with gratitude for the people who helped shape it. This isn’t goodbye it’s just the next chapter and a different way for me to support the company I care deeply about and the city that has meant so much to me,” he wrote.

Since 1987, Sight & Sound Productions has provided audiovisual services for event planners. Mugwump Productions, a company that builds custom 3D props and theatrical set pieces, was founded in 1995 and merged with Sight & Sound in 2010.

“When I first started with Sight & Sound, we were just a small team with a couple of vans, running around Jacksonville delivering equipment to hotel ballrooms and doing whatever it took to help our clients. From those humble beginnings, something pretty special grew. That happened because this community believed in us, supported us, and gave us the opportunity to prove ourselves,” he wrote.

“Jacksonville welcomed us, pushed us, trusted us, and allowed our team to play a role in thousands of events, celebrations, and milestones. Being part of those moments for almost 30 years has truly been one of the greatest honors of my life.”

The executive leadership team comprises Jennifer Trent, Alfredo Garcia, Victoria Staszewski, Elisha Jordan and Eileen Tyrrell, led by new CEO, Blasko Ristic.

“Alongside our dedicated staff, they are fully prepared to lead this organization into its next chapter. Our clients can expect the same consistency, care, and quality they’ve always known,” Davis wrote.

Even though his role is changing, Davis said his commitment to Sight & Sound, Mugwump and the community is unchanged.

“Jacksonville has been my home, my career, and my community and I am truly grateful. Thank you for 30+ years of support, partnership, and friendship. I look forward to continuing the journey with you, just from a different seat,” Davis wrote.
