Raíces Fast Casual Mexican is open at 13820 Old St. Augustine Road, Suite 125, in Shoppes of Bartram Park.
The restaurant began a soft opening May 27, according to a June 5 news release.
It is now open noon to 8 p.m. and begins its regular operating hours of 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily June 9.
Raíces features Sonoran-style cuisine of Northern Mexico. It features beef and made-in-house tortillas.
It is the most recent restaurant concept by the Garcia-Villaseñor family, whose three Pepper’s Cocina Mexicana locations are in Fernandina Beach, Fleming Island and Saint Johns.
Menu items include the Raíces Taco with asada, shrimp, a cheese crust and crispy tortilla; the Bowl de la Casa featuring carne asada or pollo Sinaloa with black beans, rice, purple cabbage, sauteed bell peppers and guacamole; and the Quesabirria, made with barbacoa, cheese, onions, cilantro and a side of consommé.
Raíces has a full bar and serves its own Pepper’s brand tequila. It also serves a rotation of sweet fruit juices.
