Jacksonville Jaguars first-round draft pick Travis Hunter has found a home.
The cornerback and wide receiver paid $3.275 million for a 13-room home in the gated Deerwood Country Club in Jacksonville.
Through a limited liability company, Hunter bought the home May 30 from Gregory Blair Stringfellow and Angela Evangelista Stringfellow.
The 8,125-square-foot, two-story, five-bedroom, seven-bathroom home with a four-car garage was built in 1995.
The 7.5-acre property includes a pool and tennis court. It is within the Estates section of Deerwood and is further gated within the Southside country club at northeast Baymeadows Road and Southside Boulevard, west of Interstate 295.
Angela Stringfellow, with Keller Williams Realty Atlantic Partners, was the listing agent.
She said June 9 that Hunter, his wife and brother toured 16 homes in Jacksonville the weekend after the draft – and this was No. 16.
“It was really special,” she said.
“He took the time to appreciate the home and the family that lived there.”
Stringfellow said Hunter saw the area wildlife – including deer and the owl “that’s been hanging out the last 15 years.”
The sale also set a record for the Deerwood Country Club, she said.
The home is in the Deerwood Estates portion of the community with few homes on the street, offering privacy.
“I hope he finds it as wonderful as we have for 15 years,” she said.
Hunter and Leanna De La Fuente registered the limited liability company with the state May 9, 2025. They are managers and owners of the LLC.
ESPN.com reported May 25 that Hunter and De La Fuente married May 24 in Tennessee.
The site reported that Hunter, 22, and De La Fuente, 23, met at Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Georgia, and dated throughout Hunter’s three-year college career at Jackson State and Colorado. The couple became engaged in February 2024.
The site said the Jaguars traded up three spots in the April NFL draft to choose Hunter with the No. 2 pick.
ESPN.com added that Hunter participated in Colorado’s May 8 graduation ceremony wearing Jaguars pajama pants, which he said was his first purchase the night he was drafted, under his gown and returned to Jacksonville two days later for the team’s rookie minicamp.
The Jaguars announced April 24 that the team “made a big, bold play Thursday night – historically, epically, franchise-defining big and bold” in choosing Hunter, a wide receiver/defensive back from the University of Colorado.
The 2024 Heisman Trophy winner, Hunter – at 6-feet-1 and 185 pounds – played two seasons at Colorado and entered the draft as an early-entry junior.
He played at Jackson State in 2022.
ESPN.com reported May 30 that the No. 2 pick, Hunter’s rookie contract will be $46,649,104 over four years with a fifth-year option.
Deerwood Country Club, built in the 1960s, was Jacksonville’s first gated country club community.
The Stringfellows bought the home in September 2010 for $1.1 million from former Green Bay Packers LeRoy Butler and Rhodesia Lee Butler.
Butler is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2022 and a Super Bowl Champion (XXXI). He retired from the NFL in 2002.
The LeRoyButler.inc. site says Butler, who grew up in Jacksonville, is a former American football strong safety who played his entire career with the Green Bay Packers (1990-2001).
Hunter joins at least two more Jaguars in the community – former placekicker Josh Scobee and defensive tackle John Henderson.
