Fashion designer Marc Jacobs at St. Johns Town Center is gaining a next-door neighbor – Faherty, a family-owned brand that sells men’s, women’s and children’s casual clothing that says “softness is our signature.”

The city is reviewing plans for the 1,930-square-foot space at 4812 River City Drive, Unit 121, next to Marc Jacobs in Unit 119. The retailers occupy space formerly leased to Talbots women’s clothing store.

Twin brothers Alex and Mike Faherty founded the lifestyle apparel Faherty Brand in 2013. It is based in New York City. It has more than 70 stores nationwide. They and Alex’s wife, Kerry Faherty, lead the company.

Faherty is planned in St. Johns Town Center between Marc Jacobs and Tommy Bahama.

The New York Post featured “beachwear-inspired” Faherty in 2013, as it was 7 weeks old, as “an eco-friendly lifestyle line for men and women rooted in sun-drenched patterns and an easy-breezy nonchalance designed for nights spent huddling over a bonfire.”

The Post cited Alex’s years in private equity and Mike’s career a designer for Ralph Lauren’s RRL line as their experience. The brothers were 30 at the time.

There are four Faherty stores in Florida in Vero Beach, Delray Beach, Panama City Beach and Miramar Beach.

The closest to Jacksonville is 139 miles north in Savannah, Georgia.

Faherty is planned in St. Johns Town Center near RH and Nordstrom.

Women’s new arrival clothing online is priced from $88 for a cotton gauze popover and for a cotton gauze short to $278 for a stretch silk black velvet midi dress.

Men’s new arrival apparel ranges from $68 for Sunwashed Tees to $398 for linen blazers.

At Town Center, Enovative Technologies Inc. of Jacksonville is the agent for the project. O’Neil Langan Architects of New York City is the architect. Codes-ABC Inc. of Orange Park is the private provider for code compliance.

Faherty is proposed between Marc Jacobs and Brooks Brothers. That strip of stores is anchored on each end by Tommy Bahama and Lilly Pulitzer. The stores are near Nordstrom.

Marc Jacobs operates 280 stores worldwide, including at least 26 boutiques and about 30 outlet stores in the U.S.

The four Florida boutiques are in Aventura, Boca Raton and two in Miami.

The four Florida outlets are in Orlando, where there are two, and in Sunrise and Tampa.

Paris-based luxury brand group LVMH says designer Marc Jacobs created Marc Jacobs International with Robert Duffy in 1984.

The LVMH group is an owner in Marc Jacobs International.

The tote bag is its signature product. Online prices show the tote bags start at $175.
