Pam Smith is the new chair of the First Coast YMCA Metropolitan board of directors. Smith began her term on Oct. 1 and is the first African American woman to serve as chair of the board.

“Pam has been an integral part of our Metro Board for more than eight years and provides invaluable insight into the guidance of the organization,” First Coast YMCA CEO and President Eric Mann said in a Nov. 12 news release. “Her term as Chair will help usher in our next chapter as we continue to grow our impact in the region.”

Smith is the founder and CEO of PF Smith Consulting, a firm that provides interim CFO services, creates strategic plans and solves financial challenges.

Prior to founding her firm, Smith was a senior executive in corporate finance for more than 25 years at Procter & Gamble, Bank of America, Sara Lee, Redbox and Estee Lauder Companies. She also serves on the boards of the American Pop Corn Company, a privately held food company and Commissioning Agents Inc., a private employee stock ownership plan company.

“It’s been an honor serving the Northeast Florida community for the past eight years through the First Coast YMCA, which is a critical resource for residents to live a healthy life,” Smith said in the release.

Smith succeeds Gary Norcross, who completed his two-year term as chair in September. She continues the tradition of volunteer leadership as the third woman to hold the position, following Peggy Bryan in 2016 and Michelle “Shelly” Boynton in 2018.
