Fixed-base operator Signature Aviation JAX is permitted to expand in Jacksonville.
The city issued a permit Oct. 15 for Signature to build a $14.5 million aircraft hangar and office facility, including enclosed and unenclosed spaces for aircraft storage and administrative functions.
The 42,100-square-foot facility is planned on 3.56 acres of Jacksonville Aviation Authority-owned land at 14700 Yonge Drive at Jacksonville International Airport, just east of where Signature JAX leases land for seven buildings.
Schenkel Shultz of Winter Park is the civil engineer. Jacksonville-based Dana B. Kenyon Co. is the contractor. Mike Mancuso is Signature Aviation JAX’s general manager.
In aviation, an FBO is a private terminal at an airport that provides services for private and corporate aircraft and their passengers, including fueling, maintenance, hangar space and passenger amenities such as lounges and catering. Signature Aviation JAX also offers discounted hotel rates and rental car and shuttle service.
Signature Aviation was formed in 1992 through the merger of Page AvJet and Butler Aviation. It is headquartered in Orlando and has more than 200 locations on five continents.
In the spring of 2025, the city issued permits for renovations of Signature JAX’s fuel farm at JIA, including a $1.3 million demolition permit to clear the way for improvements and installation of tanks and pumps for $9.6 million.
