A self-storage facility is being explored in Arlington at Tredinick Parkway east of Southside Connector, about a half-mile west of an existing center.
The site is south of Tredinick Parkway opposite Kendall Town Boulevard.
JEA, the city’s utility provider, is reviewing a request from civil engineer BGE Inc. to determine the level of services for a self-storage facility.
A request means a project is being considered and does not mean a deal has been done.
“Kendall Town Center Storage Facility” is described as a 110,000-square-foot facility on a real estate parcel that the Duval County Property Appraiser says is 1.75 acres.
Kendall Town Center, anchored by Walmart Supercenter, is north of the site across Tredinick Parkway. Gate Lands, part of Gate Petroleum Co., developed that commercial and residential center.
The storage facility site is on vacant land east of the Southside Commons shopping center. It is behind the Spirit Halloween store, the former Bealls.
The site is owned by Jacksonville-based Sleiman Enterprises through Southside Retail LLC.
Sleiman Enterprises also owns Southside Commons.
The site also is near the Extra Space Storage developed in 2008. That four-story, 112,376-square-foot self-storage center is on 2 acres at 790 Monument Road, which is at southwest Tredinick Parkway and Monument Road.
The Extra Space Storage website says it serves Jacksonville residents near Arlington, Regency, Sandalwood, Southside Estates, Jacksonville University and more.
The two properties are about a half-mile apart.
Apartments, town homes and housing are in development along Southside Connector.
