Two Publix supermarkets under construction in Northeast Florida will feature wine bars and new deli items as part of an enlarged store format.

The stores in Fernandina Beach and the St. Johns County SilverLeaf community will include Publix Pours bars with beer and wine, smoothies, acai bowls and more plus expanded deli menus that include burrito bowls, pizza and other items, said Hannah Herring, a Publix media relations manager.

Building permits list the size of both stores at 55,701 square feet, which reflects Publix’s new prototype.

The Fernandina Beach Publix at 1421 Sadler Road was developed to replace a store that closed in April 2025 and was later demolished. The new store is under construction at the Island Walk Shopping Center.

Herring said the store is expected to open in the spring of 2026, though a firm opening date has not been announced.

Bohler Engineering FL LLC of Boca Raton is the civil engineer, and Benning Construction Co. of Atlanta is the contractor.

The St. Johns County Publix is under construction at Silverleaf Parkway west of St. Johns Parkway, near the 55-plus, age-restricted Reverie at TrailMark community.

That development includes a 55,701-square-foot Publix that typically features a Pours cafe. The shopping center also includes a 2,100-square-foot liquor store and two retail buildings totaling 13,700 square feet. The center is owned by Silverleaf Market LLC.

Bowman Consulting Group Ltd. of Jacksonville is the civil engineer, and Mobile, Alabama-based White-Spunner Construction LLC is the contractor.

Herring said the SilverLeaf store’s opening is expected in the third quarter of 2026.

A 48,387-square-foot grocery Publix opened Jan. 15 at the Elevation Pointe mixed-use development in St. Johns County.

A typical Publix is 45,000 to 50,000 square feet.
