Mediterranean restaurant CAVA intends to lease the Baymeadows restaurant vacated by Burger Barn Grill east of Interstate 95.
The city is reviewing a permit application for an estimated $650,000 build-out of 2,600 square feet of space at 9303 Baymeadows Road, Unit 101.
No contractor is listed as being chosen. Ferris + Sloane of Spokane, Washington, is the architect.
Washington, D.C.-based CAVA has four restaurants in Northeast Florida. All are former Zoes Kitchens that CAVA bought and converted.
Its menu includes bowls, pitas, hummus, sides, kids meals, drinks and desserts.
CAVA features a build-your-own line for diners to choose among bases, dips and spreads, proteins and toppings, including lamb meatballs, roasted vegetables and grilled chicken.
It has restaurants in Washington, D.C., and in 26 states, including Florida, with 38 locations.
CAVA Group bought Plano, Texas-based Zoës in late 2018.
BurgerBarnGrill.com lists locations in The Pavilion at Durbin Park in Saint Johns and in Tallahassee.
The Baymeadows restaurant is shown online as permanently closed and a call to the listed number “cannot be completed as dialed.”
An associate at the Durbin store said the Baymeadows location was permanently closed.
The menu focuses on burgers and includes wings, chicken breast sandwiches, salads, fries, sides and drinks, including shakes.
Burger Barn Grill opened its first area location in Durbin Park. It built-out in Baymeadows in 2022.
