The Florida Board of Bar Examiners is seeking applicants to fill two attorney vacancies and one nonlawyer public member seat on the board. The appointments are for five-year terms beginning Nov. 1, 2026, and expiring Oct. 31, 2031.

Attorney applicants must be active members in good standing of The Florida Bar for at least five years, maintain active membership while serving on the board and be deemed qualified by the court to assess whether applicants meet the essential eligibility requirements for admission under the Rules of the Supreme Court Relating to Admissions to the Bar.

Appointment or election to the bench at any level of the court system will disqualify any applicant. Law professors or trustees are not eligible.

A public member volunteer must have a bachelor’s degree and be deemed qualified by the court to assess whether applicants for admission to The Florida Bar meet the essential eligibility requirements for admission.

Past public member volunteers have possessed experience in education, medicine, psychology, science, accounting, statistical analysis, the military and other professions.

The appointments are for three-year terms commencing Nov. 1, 2026, and expiring Oct. 31, 2029.

The Board of Bar Examiners ensures that applicants seeking admission to The Florida Bar have met the requirements of the rules regarding character and fitness, education and technical competence prior to recommending to the Florida Supreme Court an applicant’s admission to The Florida Bar.

Board members of the Bar Examiners must be able to attend about 10 meetings a year in various Florida locations. Members should be willing and able to devote the equivalent of three to four days’ work a month, or up to 350 or more hours per year on board business, depending on committee assignments. Actual travel expenses connected with the meetings and examinations are reimbursed.

Visit tinyurl.com/bdhft3tr or call Bar headquarters at 850-561-3127 to obtain the application form. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. March 23, 2026.

Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of the required application. The vacancies occur with the expiration of the terms of Victoria J. Wilson of Miami and Cristina E. Groschel of Broward County.

The board ensures that applicants seeking admission to The Florida Bar have met the requirements of the rules regarding character and fitness, education and technical competence before recommending to the court an applicant’s admission to The Florida Bar.
