First Coast YMCA has been named operator of a new 6,000-square-foot wellness center expected to open this month in One Tower Court, the headquarters building for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Downtown YMCA will be on the first floor of the building, which gets its name from its address, 1 Tower Court. Other tenants in the six-floor, Class-A building include Timucuan Asset Management.
First Coast YMCA also operates the Winston Family YMCA at 221 Riverside Ave. in Downtown’s Brooklyn district. The release says the wellness center at One Tower Court “marks an additional YMCA footprint downtown” and is the 16th YMCA branch in the association.
One Tower Court is being developed and designed Iguana Investments, the development company of Jaguars owner Shad Khan, and Shanna Collective, founded by Khan’s daughter, Shanna.
Auld & White Constructors completed the build-out of the YMCA.
“This partnership advances our vision of creating a vibrant mixed-use destination designed to uplift, connect and inspire the entire community,” Shanna Khan said in a news release.
The One Tower Court YMCA will be open Monday through Saturday and provide cardio and strength equipment, including treadmills, ellipticals, bikes and circuit training, as well as functional and recovery equipment.
It will host up to 20 group fitness classes each week taught by certified YMCA Group Fitness instructors.
In addition to the gym and office building, the Shipyards project on the Downtown Northbank includes the Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Jacksonville, five restaurants, a riverwalk and pier and a 78-boat slip public marina.
