• The Supreme Court of Florida is considering an argument presented by juvenile justice advocate Rob Mason, who serves as director of the Juvenile Court Unit in the Office of Fourth Judicial Circuit Public Defender Matt Shirk. Mason appeared Wednesday before the court to assert the importance that juvenile defendants be fully informed of their plea consequences, specifically when there is a possibility of deportation facing a noncitizen of the United States. A decision is expected by the end of the year.
