City notes: Firehouse Subs employees earn industry awards

Jacksonville-based Firehouse Subs is celebrating a few of their own who received industry awards.

Vice President of Supply Chain Services Matthew Riddleberger received the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association Sparkplug Award. It’s given annually to an employee who displays “passionate and active leadership” in the foodservice industry.

Riddleberger has advanced elements of the association’s Operator Collaboration Model that brings a framework to help manufacturers work better with national account suppliers.

Danny Walsh received the Breakthrough Award provided by Hospitality Technology. The award came in the category of Enterprise Innovator for the implementation of Firehouse’s proprietary Station Pulse business intelligence.

He also developed a 10-metric scorecard as part of it. The all-in-one reporting tool allows Firehouse to measure guest satisfaction.

Additionally, the company has promoted two to senior-level positions.

Kristen Majdanics is now the vice president of brand marketing and John Raulerson is vice president of technical services, quality and culinary.

Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra adds 2 to staff

The Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra has named Nathan Perriello as development operations manager and Hayley Tuller as a receptionist.

Perriello will be responsible for documenting gifts to the symphony and keeping donor records. He’ll also use the symphony’s new customer relationship management software to help develop strategies for engaging patrons.

His experience in the nonprofit arts sectors includes being the development operations associate for The Glimmerglass Festival, an international summer opera festival based in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Tuller will serve as the front line of greeting for the symphony and be the liaison with affiliate organizations. She most recently served as executive assistant for the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus and is a retired U.S. Navy senior chief.

Landing announces New Year’s, TaxSlayer schedule

The Jacksonville Landing will have a series of events to celebrate New Year’s Eve and the Jan. 2 TaxSlayer Bowl, pitting the Georgia Bulldogs and Penn State Nittany Lions at EverBank Field.

Starting things off will be the VyStar 5K Run at 3 p.m. Dec. 31, followed by live music and synchronized tree light shows until 9 p.m. That transitions into the New Year’s Eve River Bash until 2 a.m.

The city’s fireworks display begins at midnight.

There is no cost for admission. However, after 7 p.m., guests must be 21 years and older or with a parent, present active military identification or have a TaxSlayer Bowl Patch.

On Jan. 1, game-related activities start at 1:30 p.m. with the Penn State pep rally, followed by a 2 p.m. Parris Island Marine Corps Band performance.

The Georgia Bulldogs pep rally is at 4 p.m.

Boivin joins Jacksonville Public Library staff

The Jacksonville Public Library has hired Chris Boivin as assistant director of community relations.

Boivin most recently served as vice president of business development and communications for State Employees Credit Union, where he was responsible for the growth and education of the 75-year-rold nonprofit.

He also taught a marketing course at Florida State College at Jacksonville for three years.

Boivin received his masters of business administration in marketing, finance and management information systems from the University of South Florida. He also has a bachelor’s degree in communications from the State University of New York.

Jaguars selected 'Community MVP'

The Jacksonville Jaguars and US Assure have named Kathy Signorile as the recipient of the Community MVP Award.

The honor was established this season to celebrate “unsung champions in the Jacksonville and Northeast Florida community,” according to a news release.

Signorile founded St. Michael’s Soldiers, a nonprofit that sends care packages to deployed military personnel around the world.

The organization also coordinates “welcome home” celebrations for returning troops and supports local wounded veterans with financial assistance to help make ends meet during treatment and rehabilitation.

The honor comes with a $1,000 donation courtesy of US Assure and the Jaguars Foundation.

Signorile also received VIP treatment during Sunday’s home finale, including club seating, parking and pregame field passes.

Weston reappointed to state ethics commission

Gov. Rick Scott reappointed Stanley Weston to the state’s Commission on Ethics.

Weston is an attorney with Moseley, Prichard, Parrish, Knight and Jones. He received his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.

His term ends June 30, 2017.

The nine-member commission serves as “the guardian of the standards of conduct for officers and employees of Florida and its political subdivisions,” according to its website.

Browdy named to Florida Building Commission for another term

Gov. Rick Scott reappointed Richard Browdy to the Florida Building Commission for a term that ends Oct. 13, 2019.

He is the president of Browdy & Browdy, a custom builder of residential and commercial construction.

The commission was created by the Legislature and is responsible for implementing and reviewing the state’s building codes.

NAI Hallmark brokers $12M deal

The NAI Hallmark Partners team of Keith Goldfaden, Daniel Burkhardt and Patrick Thornton represented the seller in the sale of Butler Pointe.

The property is at the intersection of Interstate 95 and Butler Boulevard and has anchor tenants like the University of Phoenix, AT&T and Regency Electric.

Acorn Property Holdings acquired the property for $12 million.
