The Jacksonville Bar Association Professionalism & Mentoring Committee is seeking nominees for the 2018 Professionalism Award.

Established in 2010, the annual award recognizes an association member who maintains a high level of professional demeanor; possesses integrity, honesty and civility; exhibits fairness; and shows consideration and cooperation.

She or he will be selected based upon a commitment to serve others, being dedicated to the proper use of knowledge to promote a fair and just result; ensuring that concern for the desired result does not subvert fairness, honesty, respect and courtesy for others; and accepting responsibility for professional conduct as well as others in the professions, including a desire to uphold professional standards and fostering peer regulation to ensure each member is competent and public-spirited.

Also considered will be contributing skill, knowledge and influence as a lawyer to further the profession’s commitment to serving others and to promoting the public good, including efforts to provide all people with access to the law and judicial system.

Past recipients are John “Jake” Schickel (2009-10), Caroline Emery (2010-11), Carl Dawson (2011-12), Hugh Cotney (2012-13), John Macdonald (2013-14), Rutledge Liles (2014-15), Courtney Grimm (2015-16) and Mike Tanner (2016-17).

Nominations must be submitted by 5 p.m. April 12 to Duval County Judge Gary Flower, committee chair, at [email protected].

The recipient will be announced May 9 at the JBA Technology Seminar at TPC Sawgrass.
