Lakeview Health, a drug and alcohol addiction treatment center at southwest Atlantic and Southside boulevards in the Regency area, is preparing for the second phase of a $22.3 million campus renovation.

The $7.5 million second phase comprises a 7,250-square-foot administration building, a 10,300-square-foot, two-story fitness facility and a 3,250-square-foot conference center.

The Haskell Co. is the contractor for the project at the Lakeview Health campus at 1900 Corporate Square Blvd.

The city already approved the foundations for the three structures — Buildings 200, 300 and 400.

Gina Thorne, vice president of marketing, said the Lakeview campus has been in operation for almost 13 years, formerly as Lakeview Health Systems. It now comprises six buildings.

Dallas-based Trinity Hunt Partners, a private-equity firm, bought it Dec. 28, 2012, rebranded it as Lakeview Health and has been investing in improvements “to become one of the premier facilities nationally,” she said.

Trinityhunt.com says the company has “recruited numerous highly experienced healthcare executives and industry professionals to supplement Lakeview’s top management and to provide Board-level guidance.”

Lakeview Health’s CEO is Roy Serpa.

Trinityhunt.com says Lakeview Health provides patients with a continuum of care, including detoxification, intensive inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and outpatient levels of care.

Thorne said the campus has completed a $450,000 renovation in the first phase. That phase, which began in March, involves a new front entrance to the main facility and some renovations within it.

The second phase will comprise the gym facility, including an outdoor four-lane lap pool, a juice bar and a yoga studio on the first floor and a running track on the second floor; a conference center for education and training, including workshops and presentations for the community; and a new administration building would provide for more treatment space in the former administrative office space.

The 145-seat conference center will be available for community use as well.

The second phase should be completed early next year.

The third phase will make way for construction of a dedicated women’s unit so that men and women have separate facilities.

Along with campus improvements, Thorne said Lakeview has launched an outreach team nationwide.

Thorne said Lakeview can accommodate up to 130 patients in its two programs — an out-of-network program and an in-network program covered by patient insurance.

Lakeview Health’s private pay rate is $32,500 for a six-week treatment. She said staff can work with patients to determine what funding is available through insurance.

Throne said Lakeview Health offers care to help individuals and families suffering with mental health and substance abuse disorders.

“We recognize this is a life-saving opportunity. People wouldn’t hesitate if they were diagnosed with heart disease. They would definitely get help,” she said.

Thorne said the treatment program is a six- to eight-week in-patient residential program and Lakeview Health encourages patients to remain for the duration. She said insurance, family issues and the patient’s level of readiness can contribute to a briefer stay. The average length of stay is 35-36 days.

She said patients participate in off-campus activities that promote therapeutic opportunities, such as equine therapy, fitness exercise on the beach and local volunteer work. A staff exercise physiologist conducts grocery store visits to teach patients best nutrition practices and also leads group and individualized fitness classes for patients to support their life in recovery.

Lakeview’s goal is to provide recovery skills to patients. Its motto is “Find Your True North.”

“It’s been pretty remarkable to see what has happened,” Thorne said of the changes since the acquisition in late 2012.
