Executive Director, ULI North Florida

Mission

The mission of the Urban Land Institute is to provide leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide.

Serving Jacksonville

The Urban Land Institute was established in 1936 and is headquartered in Washington, D.C. The ULI North Florida District Council, which is headquartered in Jacksonville, was formed in 2005.

Those served

ULI North Florida has nearly 300 members in 34 counties and includes Jacksonville, Gainesville, Tallahassee, Panama City and Pensacola.

Biggest challenge

My biggest challenge is finding time for everything. ULI North Florida is one of the newest and fastest growing district councils. We offer members educational programs focused on many aspects of community development — infrastructure, trends, sustainability, women’s leadership, regionalism and technical assistance panels — and community initiatives like UrbanPlan at Episcopal High School and Nease High School. Council members are very engaged and thankfully keep me on my toes.

Biggest satisfaction

I enjoy working with the diverse group of real estate professionals and civic organizations that comprise ULI North Florida. Jacksonville is blessed to have so many dynamic groups of people who really want to make a difference. They have great ideas on how to make Jacksonville and North Florida a better place to live and work. It’s neat to see these groups come together to work for the greater good.

Hometown

New York City/Westchester County, N. Y.

First experience with community service

After hearing Project SOS Founder Pam Mullarkey talk about her passion for our city’s youth, I knew I had to get involved. I now volunteer to help the organization reach supporters in St. Johns County to help fund its programs focused on helping middle-school-age students make better choices.

More experience

In addition to managing the ULI District Council, I work part-time as the program manager for the Jacksonville Civic Council, a group composed of more than 50 CEOs and leaders in Jacksonville with a passion to help our city. I am responsible for managing the organization’s website, e-newsletter and meetings and for providing support to its committees.

Upcoming events

Thursday: Awards for Excellence, 5:30 p.m., Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA)

November: Annual Emerging Trends in Real Estate
